easyJet seek council’s help in Luton Airport fees row

easyJet has called on Luton council to put pressure on Luton Airport operator Albertis to help make the airport, which the council owns and leases to the Spanish company, more competitive. The budget airline's chief executive, Andy Harrison, has written to Luton Borough Council urging the authority to help reduce the airport's costs.
Details of the letter were released as 100 easyJet cabin crew marched and protested in Luton yesterday over planned cuts at the town's airport. They released 565 balloons, one for each job they say is at risk, and presented a letter to the head of the Council. However, a spokesman for the council said it had no power to intervene in negotiations between easyJet and the airport operator.
