Immigration officer in court for selling fake ID’s
15.03.09
A Luton Airport immigration officer has been charged with selling fake passports, the Mirror reports. Anthony Quarco, a full time immigration officer and a Met special constable and church minister in his spare time, is also accused of letting in immigrants on false documents.
Colleagues at Luton airport became suspicious and reported Mr Quarco, 44, to the UK Borders Agency. Police raided his home in Croydon, South London, and arrested him. He has been suspended from his job and as a special constable, and was remanded in custody at a court in Croydon on 15 charges.
An 'immigration source' told the newspaper: ‘As an immigration officer, special constable and a church minister he was clearly a trusted man, so it was a surprise when his name came up.’
