easyJet slam Luton Airport drop off charge
12.04.09
easyJet has slammed Luton Airport's decision to charge drivers £1 for using the drop off zone. From April 29, passengers will be forced to pay the fee if they want to use the car park, which allows drivers 10 minutes to drop off passengers. But airport based budget airline easyJet said the new charges were ‘a recipe for traffic chaos’.
Spokesman Andrew McConnell, said: ‘What next? We already have charges for fast track security and plastic bags. Now they want a pound for dropping somebody off at the Airport. This new scheme is a recipe for traffic chaos, which will see people stopping on double yellow lines or parking in the bus lane.'
‘Passengers already pay to use the airport facilities as part of their air fare. The danger here is that people will choose other airports instead, rather than be forced to pay these charges.’
