Luton Airport launch passenger car share scheme
10.06.09
Luton Airport has launched a lift-sharing service to help cut pollution and save passengers money on petrol and car parking. The airport claims to be the first in the UK to offer this service to customers and chose this week’s National Liftshare Day to unveil the scheme.
Luton already operates a car-sharing scheme for staff, working with liftshare.com, and has now extended it to passengers using the airport. Passengers have to register for the scheme, which will allow them to search for other travellers making the similar journeys to the airport. It is part of the airport’s sustainable transport programme.
Simon Earles, the airport’s general manager of corporate social responsibility, said: ‘Car share has proved popular with staff and the logical next step was to roll out the scheme for passengers. We are committed to developing sustainable transport options to the airport.’
