easyJet passengers down 6.8%

Luton Airport based easyJet reported passenger numbers down 6.8% in February compared to a year earlier. The budget airline carried 3.02 million passengers, with the fall reflecting its decision to withdraw lower yielding flights. This also saw its load factor rose by 2.4 percentage points to 87%.
In the 12 months to the end of February easyJet carried 44.4 million passengers, up 13.9% on the previous period, with its average load factor up 1.8 percentage points to 85.1%. The airline confirmed that its capacity, measured by available seats, for the first half of the current financial year is expected to be ahead of last year by a low single digit percent.
