A Glenrothes grandmother has received seven year jail sentence for drug smuggling. Catherine Gibson, of Queen Margaret Drive, was found guilty at Lewes Crown Court of attempting to smuggle a kilo of pure cocaine worth around £145,000 into the UK via London City Airport.
UK Border Agency officials discovered the drugs after she arrived on a flight from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. The 57-year-old had flown to Amsterdam from Argentina before trying to enter the UK with the drugs wrapped in packages and concealed in a suitcase.
