No inquiry in to London City Airport flights expansion
24.11.08
The Government has refused to grant a public enquiry into a decision to allow London City Airport to expand.
In October Newham Council voted to allow the airport to increase its flights by 50 percent from 80,000 at present to 120,000 by 2010. However, despite calls for a public review from residents and environmentalists, the Secretary of State, Hazel Blears, this week refused to call in Newham's decision.
