France’s newest airport has opened at Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne, where the Lot, Corrèze and Dordogne departments meet. The airport opened on June 15 with flights to Paris, with the first of three flights a week by Air France CityJet flights set to take off for London City Airport this Friday.
Brive Airport is targeting more low cost flights to UK airports in the future, but does not expect to rival nearby Bergerac Airport which has 300,000 passengers a year. Brive is looking to build to around 100,000.
