London City Airport expansion 'benefits homeowners'
19.01.08
The expansion of London City Airport should be of little concern to local homeowners, according to property website Buy Association. The website claims that, as the airport only handles small aircraft, most buyers will not be put off, whereas improvements to the transport infrastructure in the region is helping to boost house prices.
Paul Collins, Buy Association spokesperson, said: 'London City Airport is very much a business airport so it's only really private jets and smaller aircrafts. The disruption is fairly minimal
the noise isn't that bad.'
'The transport is good, particularly in that part of London because you've got the new developments going into the Olympics site, you've got the fact that the Docklands Light Railway is extending down to Woolwich as well. The transport infrastructure in the area is improving hugely, so it's more of an advantage than a bad thing.'
London City Airport saw a 23 percent increase in the number of passengers it handled between 2006 and 2007.
