BA London City – NY passengers to pre-clear US immigration
17.11.08
British Airways has announced that passengers on its all business class service travelling to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport from London City Airport will be able to clear customs and immigration at Shannon Airport, Ireland, prior to arriving in the US.
The westbound flights will stop at Shannon Airport in order to re-fuel as the runway length at London City means that it would not be able to take off fully laden with passengers, luggage and fuel. Passengers will then bypass normal arrivals checks when landing at New York's JFK.
A twice-daily Business Class service between London City and New York will be launched by BA in autumn 2009. Eastbound flights (from JFK to London) will be non-stop.
