Campaigners to fight ‘Red Bull Docklands Airport’
15.01.10
Protesters trying to stop the planned expansion of London City Airport have a new campaign to stop plans for a second airport in East London, the Advertiser reports. The campaigners are calling on the local planning authority, Newham Council, to reject the application for a runway, helipad, taxiway, hangers and control tower in the Royal Albert Dock for Red Bull to use during their annual air races.
'Fight the Flights' campaign chair Anne-Marie Griffin has called for proposals by Red Bull for a runway in the Royal Docks to be grounded. She said: ‘MPs and local authorities across East London are receiving more complaints than ever before about the noise from the jets using City Airport. Now we have this proposal from Red Bull. Have the people of East London not suffered enough?’
