15.01.09
There was an emergency alert at the Isle of Man's Ronaldsway airport this morning when an aircraft came off the edge of the runway after it was hit by a heavy gust of wind while landing. VLM flight VG662 from London City Airport, with 20 passengers and 4 crew on board, came into land in high winds at 10:10 but ended up with its port wheels and nose wheel on the grass.
Passengers, who were unhurt in the incident, were taken by bus to the terminal. The aircraft was not damaged. A spokesman for VLM said the aircraft had encountered a 'heavy gust of wind' as it came into land.
