VLM Airlines flew 9 percent more passenger last year than 2005 - with a total of 681,751 passengers. The full service business airline plans to add more capacity, aiming for 25 percent growth, this year.
The regional business airline received the coveted 'Regional Airline of the Year for 2006' award from Air Transport World in January 2006, launched two new routes last year, and increased its daily flights from its main base at London City Airport to more than 100 a day, helping scheduled passenger numbers to rise by 8.5 percent to 652,144. Charter flights took the airline to 681,751 passengers.
Managing director Johan Vanneste said: '2006 saw VLM Airlines increase frequencies and launch new routes. In the last quarter alone, VLM Airlines increased its capacity by 23% and in December announced the new Manchester to Rotterdam route. Combined, these new initiatives will see VLM Airlines grow again by some 25% in 2007.'
'Our focus will remain on offering a quality and time-saving service to business travellers across our network.'
