No lounge for BA London City all business passengers
12.03.09
British Airways has revealed that passengers on its new all-business class service from London City Airport to New York JFK, due to launch this autumn, will not have lounge facilities at the Docklands hub, the Times reports.
A BA spokesman defended this, telling the Times: ‘Part of the appeal [of London City] is that you can get through the airport in 15 minutes.'. He added that by the time the service was launched, London City would have completed ongoing works on its terminal, making it a much more pleasant place to wait for a flight.
The spokesman also said that the service is still on track for launch in the autumn – believed to be pencilled in for September – despite the economic downturn and the turmoil in the financial sector. Financial companies with offices in Canary Wharf will be key target customers for the new flights.
