Plane Stupid protest at London City Airport

London City Airport was the scene of an early morning protest yesterday, as five members of Plane Stupid attached themselves the wheels of a private jet. A spokesman for the group said the five activists donned pin-stripe suits and bowler hats before attaching themselves to the jet to protest at the ‘selfishness of private jet use’.
The climate change campaigners, four men and one woman, were arrested for aggravated trespass and criminal damage. The airport remained open throughout the protest, which caused limited disruption to passengers.
Nancy Birch, spokesperson for Plane Stupid, said ‘small jets emit between five and ten times more carbon per passenger than commercial flights.’
