London City Airport to hold winter flights expo
09.10.07
London City Airport is holding a Winter Expo tomorrow (11:00 - 19:00) and Thursday (October 11 11:00 - 23:00) at Broadgate, London EC2. The airport is inviting skiers to join them on either of the two days and see how you can hit the slopes faster.
Broadgate is a lively, thriving area near Liverpool Street and the City financial district. Every day, thousands of people pass through Liverpool Street station, over 35,000 people working within Broadgate and another 150,000 only a short walk away.
Along with partners, Swiss International Air Lines, CityJet for Air France and British Airways, the airport will take presence across the whole of Broadgate, including The Arena, Exchange Square and Finsbury Avenue Square.
The Arena will host an artificial ski slope with snow boarding rails, with sliding and grinding action from the best instructors, including the Warren Smith Ski School.
There will also be an 'Air France Ski Blizzard', described as the ultimate Ski Simulator consisting of two Alpine Racers enclosed within a futuristic dome with high-powered fans blowing artificial snow everywhere. The machines are linked so skiers can race a pal over six different courses, including slalom and downhill.
Or, for the less energetic, there is the 'British Airways Apres Ski' area, where you can explore and indulge with the sounds of live jazz at Exchange Square, try your hand at a snowboard simulator or just enjoy a taste of winter with the compliments of BA.
A spokesman said that London City Airport is the gateway to Europe's top ski destinations. Only 22 minutes from Bank DLR and with a fast check in you can hit the slopes even faster.
