Passengers up 31% in August at London City Airport
06.09.07
The number of passengers that used London City Airport in August increased by 31 percent compared with the same month last year. Following on from July's record 26 percent rise in passengers, 241,976 travellers passed through the airport last month.
The airport said that it expects traffic to continue to increase over the next few years, a prediction reflected in its recent application for expansion to accommodate the extra passengers.
Richard Gooding, chief executive of the airport, said: 'With an ever increasing number of leading financial institutions locating their headquarters on the east side of London, the airport, only three miles from Canary Wharf, is ideally located to serve the growing business community.'
