BA axe London City – Dublin route
06.03.09
British Airways has axed its route between London City Airport and Dublin, which was only launched in June last year. The cancellation was not announced, however the last flights on the three-times-daily service operated on Monday (March 2).
The airline said the decision was made to sacrifice the route due to lack of aircraft and a recent reduced uptake in flights. BA City Flyer was already running with a reduced fleet when a RJ100, one of 12 aircraft based at City, had an emergency landing at the Docklands airport last month.
BA is rebooking any passengers who were due to fly between March 2 and 28 on its services from Gatwick to Dublin. The airline has reached an agreement with its codeshare partner Aer Lingus to reaccommodate passengers booked to travel from March 29 onwards on its flights from Heathrow to Dublin.
