05.04.07
Transport for London has revealed that the Docklands Light Railway London City Airport extension carried 4.2m passengers in its first year of operation (between December 2005 and December 2006). The route was only expected to reach this annual passneger number after three years.
Managing director of Transport for London Rail, Ian Brown, said: 'Passing this milestone shows DLR is going from success to success. It is expanding both in passenger numbers and route extensions faster than any other UK railway.'
