London City Airport closed by plane landing problem
05.02.09
The runway at London City Airport was closed for two hours this afternoon after a plane landed with a suspected damaged nose wheel. The twenty-five passengers were kept on board the British Airways City Flyer from Glasgow for just over an hour after it touched down at about 13:10. They eventually left the aircraft normally, but no other flights were able to take off or land until the plane was removed.
A spokeswoman for London City said the emergency services were at the scene before the plane landed after the pilot notified the airport about the problem. The Air Accident Investigation Branch has launched an investigation, examining the aircraft and the circumstances of the flight.
