London City / Manchester airport demonstration today

A joint protest is being held at London City and Manchester airports today to demand an end to domestic flights. The ‘Train not Plane’ campaigners will gather at the Docklands airport at 11:00 to voice their concern at airlines promoting internal routes within the UK.
The activists from the Campaign Against Climate Change and Fight the Flights will then take their campaign in to London on an open top bus before traveling to Manchester by train and carrying out a similar protest at Manchester Airport.
Phil Thornhill from Campaign Against Climate Change said: ‘It is time we got serious about the escalating threat from climate change before its too late. We can start to get to grips with the growth in aviation by eliminating the shorter journeys that can be made in other, less carbon-intensive, ways.’
