Hackney cab drivers register to work at Liverpool Airport
31.03.08
More than 750 black cab drivers have now registered to work at Liverpool Airport. 450 of them have also taken the 08 Welcome course as part of Capital of Culture.
Liverpool Airport started its Airport Black Cab scheme a year ago. Drivers have to comply with an agreed code of conduct, and have also been encouraged to go on the cabbies’ 08 Welcome course jointly organised by Merseytravel, Liverpool Culture Company and the Transport and General Workers Union.
Cab drivers who want to park on the airport rank have to buy credits costing £1 per visit. Since the scheme started, 15 have had disciplinary action for failing to comply with the agreed code of conduct.
