25 millionth passenger for easyJet at Liverpool Airport
29.10.10
easyJet has celebrated the milestone of 25 million passengers at Liverpool Airport, with the lucky 25 millionth passenger receiving free flights for a year. Helen Taylor, from Huntington in Chester, was surprised at check-in this morning when she booked on to an easyJet flight to Barcelona. easyJet’s UK Commercial Manager, Ali Gayward, was on hand to congratulate her with a special boarding card entitling her to free flights up to November 2011.
Liverpool Airport became easyJet’s second base in October 1997 when the airline arrived in the region four years after its initial launch in Luton. The two original routes from Liverpool to Amsterdam and Nice carried around 130,000 passengers in their first year. Today 10 aircraft operating from the base provide Liverpool residents with access to more than 30 destinations.
