Ryanair to suspend four Liverpool Airport routes
20.07.08
Cost cutting by Ryanair will hit four European routes from Liverpool Airport this winter. The airline will suspend flights between November 4 and December 19 from Liverpool to Budapest, Krakow, Palma and Valencia, whilst flights from other UK airports to Basel, Rzeszow and Salzburg will also stop as the budget airline suspends flights to these seven European destinations.
A spokesman for Ryanair said that the seven airports are among their most expensive, and deputy chief executive Michael Cawley said they would not be viable when fares are at their lowest and fuel prices are at record highs. He said that anyone who had already booked flights to the airports, or who does so in the next few days before the bookings system is amended, will receive a refund.
Liverpool Airport spokesman Robin Tudor said: ‘These are challenging times within the industry. No airline is immune from the effects of these higher costs.’
