Flash floods hit Liverpool Airport flights
12.05.08
Liverpool Airport had to be partially evacuated yesterday as flash flooding hit Merseyside, the Daily Post reports. The departure terminal was flooded at about 17:00, triggering fire alarms, and staff were forced to evacuate bemused holidaymakers as the rain thundered down.
A spokesman for the airport told the newspaper: ‘We had an immense downpour which caused flooding within the terminal building itself. The end of the departure lounge for Ryanair passengers has been closed and we’ve had to put them over at the other end of the departure lounge along with easyJet customers. It has caused a tight squeeze but no major delays and operationally it’s been fine.’
