Reader complains about fly parking near Liverpool Airport

A reader has complained about fly parking - where people flying from an airport park in local streets for free, rather than paying to parking in an airport car park - near Liverpool Airport.
He says: 'Liverpool Airport has many car parks, yet people still insist on parking on Hale Road with no thought about the inconvenience this may cause residents. I came home late one night recently, only to find I could not park my car on my drive because someone had parked their car in the way. I thought it was against the law to block someone’s drive.'
'Over the years, more and more people are parking on Hale Road to pick up, drop off, or go on holiday and leave their cars – all to save themselves a few pounds in parking.'
'Cars have been vandalised at night outside my house and I have had to ring the police to get them towed away because I worry that they will be set on fire. So not only are they taking a risk parking their cars here but they are also putting residents in this area in danger.'
'I accept that there is no law against parking a car in this road, but if people need to park, they should at least have the decency to look where they are parking. Also, if they are actually parking to avoid paying parking fees, then they should think how they would feel if someone did this outside their home.'
