Liverpool Airport hotel changes hands (and name)
07.07.08
The Marriott Hotel Liverpool Airport will become part of the InterContinental group from August 1, abtn.co.uk reports. The 163-room four star hotel, which occupies the original art deco Liverpool airport terminal and control tower, and is conveniently located a mile from the airport’s new terminal, will become the Crowne Plaza Liverpool Airport.
John Paul Nel, Marriott’s area VP for Northern England told abtn that the property was owned by Neptune Holdings, who have decided to exit the hotel business. ‘So the property was put up for sale and Marriott was outbid by another hotel company [InterContinental].’
Andy Cosslett, CEO, InterContinental Hotels Group, parent group of Crowne Plaza, said: ‘We are delighted to be adding a Crowne Plaza hotel near Liverpool Airport. This hotel is a welcome addition to what is one of our fastest growing brands around the world.’
