Ryanair axe Granada flights
07.05.10
Ryanair has axed four of its six routes from the Federico García Lorca, Granada-Jaén airport, blaming ‘excessive costs’. The routes to Madrid, Girona, Stansted and Liverpool airport, closed on Tuesday of this week, and the airline says that 400,000 annual passengers and 400 jobs will be lost as a result.
The higher costs are reported to be the result of the Granada City hall deciding to leave the consortium of local commercial organisarions that were subsidising the airline’s presence in Granada. The airline will continue to fly from Granada to Bologna and Milan.
