Liverpool Airport make fresh liquid ban plea
06.08.08
Liverpool Airport has revealled that up to 10 bin bags full of baked beans, peanut butter, brown sauce, curries, mango chutney, sun cream and insect repellent are confiscated every day from passengers. A spokesman said that, almost two years after security restrictions on hand luggage were brought in, passengers are still either unsure or unaware of the restrictions.
The amount being confiscated has halved since this time last year, but airport bosses are still urging travellers to remember the rules. As thousands of holidaymakers flock abroad the airport is asking passengers to keep to the limits for liquids set following a plot to blow-up transatlantic passenger jets in August 2006.
Under Department for Transport regulations, passengers can take a maximum of 10 containers of liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols up to a maximum 100ml each in their hand baggage. They must be in a clear plastic bag no bigger than 20cm x 20cm.
