Local art on display at Liverpool Airport
03.03.08
Passengers passing through Liverpool Airport over the coming months will be able to see a number of pieces of work created by local artists.
The airport launched its Community Art Project last week. Five large sections of wall space in public areas of the terminal have been allocated to the exhibition, to ensure that a maximum number of passengers see the work. It will see work displayed throughout the terminal as part of Liverpool's year as the European Capital of Culture.
A number of artists have been invited to take part in the initiative, including local photographers, weavers and embroiderers as well as schools and community groups as part of a four month rolling programme to showcase local talent.
Neil Pakey, Liverpool Airport Managing Director, said: ‘We are delighted to be giving local artists the chance to display their work to our thousands of passengers and visitors, especially during this Capital of Culture year.'
The airport has created an application form to help with the selection process and artists and groups interested should log on to its website (click on the link above) to download the form. To request a hard copy via the post, telephone 0151 907 1622 and leave a contact name and full postal address.
