Residents fears over Leeds Bradford Airport roadworks
31.12.09
Local residents could be about to face more than two months of increased traffic due to roadworks near Leeds Bradford Airport. Work to replace lighting on both sides of the tunnel that runs under the airport’s runway, and carries the busy A658 road, will start on Monday and is due to last for ten weeks. The scheme, which will include installing energy-saving lighting that needs less maintenance, is described by Leeds Council as 'essential'.
The work will be carried out using different shifts and restricted to off-peak and overnight periods, to reduce disruption. Lane closures will take place at the tunnel between 09:30 and 15:30, Monday to Friday, and again from 22:30 to 04:30.
