Leeds Bradford Airport superglue protestor freed
22.05.07
The climate campaigner arrested after supergluing herself to the entrance of Leeds Bradford Airport last week has been released without charge.
As previously reported, Penny Eastwood, a 52 year old a mother of two from Calderdale, glued her hand to an entrance pillar in protest at environmental damage linked with the growth of air travel over the weekend. She was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and criminal damage an hour into the campaign, and taken to Weetwood Police Station. However, she was later released without charge.
Leeds Bradford Airport refused to comment on the incident but said no damage was caused to the pillar. It is thought that the airport will apply for a banning order to stop Ms Eastwood making similar protests in the future.
