Leeds Bradford Airport reassures travellers on Heathrow flights
21.12.07
The future of the only air link between Leeds Bradford Airport and London Heathrow looks to be safe after airport bosses and airline bmi reaffirmed their commitment to the route.
As previously reported, the five-times-a-day service had been the subject of speculation after the airline's chairman, Sir Michael Bishop, called into question the level of charges at Leeds Bradford in a letter to management late last month. Sir Michael also voiced concerns about passenger levels in the letter to the airport's chairman, Michael Goodwin.
However, the airport has issued a statement celebrating the airline's 27th year of flying between Leeds and London and confirming the airline's commitment to the route. This was backed by bmi.
Sally Ramsey, marketing and business development manager at the airport, added: 'Not only does bmi offer an excellent service to London, but it gives passengers the opportunity to connect from Leeds Bradford through Heathrow to a whole range of worldwide destinations.'
