Leeds Bradford Airport says 90% of flights still on track
20.07.09
Ninety percent of flights are still operating on-course when they take off from Leeds Bradford Airport, a spokesman confirmed, rejecting claims that the majority are ‘short-cutting’ over Menston, the Wharfedale & Airedale Observer reports.
The airport has repeated a statement issued last month, announcing that only a tenth of its aircraft are now flying ‘off track’, compared to half of all flights last year. Pilots are expected to keep to a set route to keep disturbance to residents to a minimum. The spokesman reaffirmed its commitment to reducing the number of the jets flying off its official noise preferential route (NPR).
