Jet2 probed over advertised fares
12.03.08
The Office of Fair Trading is looking into Leeds Bradford Airport based low-cost airline Jet2, following customer complaints that they were asked to pay up to eight times the prices advertised on the company's website.
The airline has advertised one-way flights to destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris and Belfast for just £4.99. But, despite its website displaying the prices ‘inclusive of taxes’, some passengers report that they have been quoted an extra £38 for fixed, non-optional costs for a return journey.
However, a spokesman for Jet2 disputed that the prices were accurate. She said: ‘Flights are available for £4.99 each way inclusive of taxes; it just depends on the date of travel. For example departing Leeds Bradford on April 2 a flight to Belfast International is £4.99 including tax.’
A spokesman for the Office of Fair Trading confirmed: ‘Concerns have been expressed to us about this issue which we are considering.’
