Ink Publishing wins for Jet2.com inflight magazine contract
10.10.05
Ink Publishing announced today that it has been selected by budget airline Jet2 to publish its inflight magazine. Ink is the world's leading producer of inflight magazines - it publishes more than any other company - and is the publisher of choice with British-based low cost carriers.
The magazine for Jet2 will be published quarterly, printed in England and will contain high quality features and information for passengers flying into and out of the airline's hubs at Leeds Bradford, Blackpool, Manchester, Belfast and Newcastle.
The publication will provide a vehicle for businesses and services in Jet2's destination countries - Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Hungary and the Czech Republic - to have direct access into the UK's lucrative regional markets.
Jeffrey O'Rourke, Chief Executive of Ink Publishing, said: 'Jet2's extensive route network and hubs in the North of England and Northern Ireland will give the magazine a Northern soul and offer advertisers a unique opportunity to reach passengers travelling across a wide range of European destinations.'
Jet2 began operating from Leeds Bradford International Airport in February 2003. Since then it has flown more than 2.5 million passengers, 20% of whom are visitors flying into the UK. The airlines Business Director Richard Bodin said: 'The magazine is another benefit for travellers already enjoying our consistently low fares, convenient booking, secure and safe flights, friendly service and on-time arrivals and departures.'
Jet2's European city break, sun and snow destinations from Leeds Bradford will soon number 16 including Barcelona, Geneva, Nice, Prague, Venice and, this autumn, Tenerife and Chambery in the Alps. Manchester Airport became Jet2's second base a year ago, which was the biggest scheduled airline commitment in the history of the airport. Five other destinations are served from Belfast and two from Newcastle.
Readers of two of the UK's top travel trade and consumer publications, Holiday Which? and Wanderlust, recently voted Jet2 their favourite British airline. The airline also won the Best Newcomer to Tourism in the White Rose Awards 2004, sponsored by the Yorkshire Tourist Board, and won the accolade for the world's most punctual airline operating into Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport during 2003.
