Jet2 wants to bring Germans to Leeds Bradford
05.05.08
Yorkshire Tourist Board has teamed up with Leeds Bradford Airport based low cost airline Jet2 to launch a marketing campaign aimed at attracting more German visitors to the county. The move comes after Jet2 launched new flights from the hub to Hamburg last week, one of eight new routes it will launch from Leeds Bradford this month.
Regional development agency Yorkshire Forward is funding the campaign, timed to coincide with the launch of a route between Hamburg/ Lübeck and Leeds Bradford. Around £400,000 is being spent to promote Yorkshire to Germans as an ideal destination for holidays and short breaks.
Jet2 boss Philip Meeson said: ‘We are very excited about this direct service from Germany into Leeds Bradford. It has been proved through our Düsseldorf route that German travellers are keen to visit Yorkshire and we are looking forward to opening up this new area. We know there are at least 4.5m people within Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein who will help make this route a continued success.’
