Problems at Leeds Bradford Airport car park
03.09.07
Drivers dropping off passengers at Leeds Bradford Airport have suffered problems when the barriers at their short stay car park have broken down - most recently on Friday evening.
After the terror attack on Glasgow Airport earlier this summer, Leeds Bradford, along with many UK airports, have made changes to drop off / pick up arrangements. Motorist can no longer drive up to the outside of the terminal buildings, but instead must use the airport's short stay car park.
This 'passenger irritation system', as one of our readers called it, seems to be operating smoothly at most airports, however, Leeds Bradford has had some problems with its car park barriers, leading to long delays for customers.
Tempers rose last Friday evening (August 31) when the computers raising and lowering the exit barrier failed. Whilst staff sought to fix the system, hundreds of passengers queue to leave the car park.
Rather than manually raise the barrier and allow the cars to leave, staff sought to repair the system ['presumably in order not to lose their source of income', our reader writes] thus infuriating the growing number of people trying to leave the car park. The reader adds: 'According to the staff this is not the first time this problem has been encountered, and clearly it is a situation which is ongoing.'
The airport has yet to comment on the problems.
