Ryanair celebrates 2m passengers on Leeds Bradford - Dublin route
02.10.07
Ryanair has celebrated its two millionth passenger on its Leeds Bradford Airport to Dublin service. As ever, it is marking the milestone with a 'special ticket deal,' offering tickets on the service plus its new flights from Leeds Bradford to Shannon, set to launch in November, from the cost of taxes and charges.
Ryanair's Caroline Baldwin said: 'We're delighted to celebrate this remarkable passenger milestone at Leeds Bradford. It's testament to the huge demand for low fares air travel in Yorkshire. Two million people have now flown to Ireland with Ryanair, and we expect this number to increase dramatically with the introduction of our new route to Shannon.'
The route between Leeds Bradford Airport and Dublin was first launched in 1996 when 70,000 passengers were carried, but Ryanair has seen such growth that in the year ahead it expects to carry more than 300,000 passengers.
The lucky two millionth passenger on the Dublin flight was Sandra Fitzpatrick. Bizarrely, she received a flight voucher for the route to Shannon from Ryanair.
