Weather hits Leeds Bradford Airport flights
01.02.08
Strong winds caused delays for passengers at Leeds Bradford Airport yesterday, with the weather problems resulting flights being delayed up to three and a half hours. Air traffic controllers at the hub, who take wind speed measurements every 20 minutes, said that by lunchtime the gusts had peaked at 52 miles an hour.
The biggest disruption was to early-morning flights out of the airport. Arrivals were mainly unaffected although one flight from Belfast had to be diverted to Durham Tees Valley, an airport spokesman said. By the afternoon the airport was catching up on delays.
