Freight up 37% at Kent Airport
19.05.08
Kent International Airport handled 3025 tonnes of freight in April - an improvement of 820 tonnes or 37% ahead of the same month last year. All scheduled freight operators improved on their prior year performance while the number of air traffic movements increased by 17% compared with April 2007.
Two Atlas Air 747 deliveries of Racing cars and other A1GP equipment passed through Kent International for the second year running in preparation for the UK leg of the global racing competition at Brands Hatch. However, the airport is bracing for a reduction in freight traffic in May as a number of MK Airlines flights are scheduled to operate to mainland Europe airports rather than Kent.
