Collapsed airline EUjet' staff still waiting for final months pay
02.10.05
Nine weeks after EUjet ceased operations from Kent Airport, 150 staff are waiting for a month's pay. The former EUjet workers say they are owed a minimum of £1000 each, and that workers for parent company PlaneStation, which owned the airport, have been paid.
The airline staff said they were told their claim would be dealt with by the Insolvency Service.
The service said it was dealing with the case as fast as possible but could not pay EUjet claims until the Irish firm was declared insolvent in Ireland.
Former EUjet worker Karen McCarthy told the BBC: 'We are sitting here. We are owed money. I am owed just over £1,000 which is a months' wages and severance pay. We just haven't got the money to pay the bills that are coming in.'
And Martyn Percival, former EUjet manager, said: 'We were told we were getting an acknowledgment back from the Insolvency Service and our claim would be dealt with. To this date, nine weeks later, we have had no communication from the Insolvency Service at all.'
PlaneStation, which owned both EUjet and Kent International Airport at Manston, went into administration in July.
