Jersey Airport job losses
07.09.08
Five staff have been made redundant by an airline ground handling company at Jersey Airport as a result of a reduction in flight numbers this winter. The global rise in oil prices and the credit crunch have caused airlines to cut their schedules and the job losses are a direct knock-on effect of the change in airline industry circumstances.
Airline Services CI, which handles BA, bmi, bmibaby, VLM, Manx and Air Southwest flights, has written to the workers saying that the change in economic circumstances means it can no longer afford to employ them this winter.
