Eastern axe IOM crew base and may scrap flights
30.07.09
Eastern Airways is closing its crew base and is also considering cutting all its flights to the Isle of Man. The airline blamed the ‘current tough economic trading conditions’ for the move, which could result in seven job losses, with pilots and air stewards facing redundancy or redeployment.
In addition to closing its base, the airline is also considering whether to stop flying to the Isle of Man's Ronaldsway airport, cutting routes from Newcastle and Birmingham. No online bookings to the Isle of Man are being taken from August 27, while the matter is under consultation.
