IOM Airport passengers down but improving
14.11.09
More than 61,300 passengers passed though Isle of Man Airport during October, just 1,675 (2.6%) fewer than in the same month last year. The airport said this indicated a recovery in passenger numbers is ahead of that predicted, giving the Isle of Man reasons for optimism.
Ann Reynolds, Isle of Man Airport's director, said that the downward trend in passengers appears to be ‘bottoming out’. She said: ‘Again, the airline operators have performed ahead of our predictions, which were for a 5% decrease, and this gives me further reassurance that in 2010 we will start to see positive and consistent growth once again.'
Flybe's flights to Liverpool from the Isle of Man recorded the highest passenger levels for almost 18 months during October, while a 17% increase was recorded in the number of people booking flights to Blackpool on Manx2.
