HIAL firefighter strike to hit flights on Monday

A strike by firefighters at nine small Scottish airports on Monday will disrupt travel plans for about 2000 air passengers, according to Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL).
Industrial action over pay will take place at Barra, Benbecula, Campbeltown, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Sumburgh, Tiree and Wick airports will mean that the airports be closed to scheduled traffic.
Strikes will not be taking place at Inverness, or Dundee which is operated by HIAL through a subsidiary company. However, although Inverness will be open as normal, but flights to Orkney and Shetland and the Western Isles will be affected.
Further action has been planned for July 4.
