Light aircraft crash at Humberside Airport

The pilot of a light aircraft had a lucky escape when his plane crashed on landing at Humberside airport on Saturday. The light aircraft was carrying only the pilot when it got into difficulties on landing at about 16:45.
Local fire crews and a team of paramedics attended, whilst the airport’s own fire crew helped the pilot to safety. He has not been identified, but was not seriously hurt. However, the plane, a Piper Cherokee, was extensively damaged.
The airport remained operational during the incident. Air Accident Investigation officers from the Department of Transport are due to begin an investigation into the cause of the crash.
