Laser attack on Heathrow flight
23.07.10
A laser light attack on an aircraft flying over Surrey is being investigated by police. The green laser was shone at an Austrian Airlines plane, which had just taken off from Heathrow Airport, shortly after 22:00 on 17 July.
Surrey Police said the the laser was believed to have been shone from in or around Ashford Road in Staines. Inspector Sarah Greenhalgh said the laser could ‘blind or distract the pilot and puts everyone on board at risk. Laser pens can be very powerful and to shine one into the cockpit of any aircraft during flight is extremely dangerous.'
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Surrey Police.
