BMI to launch Heathrow – Berlin service
18.03.10
BMI is to launch a new four times daily service between Heathrow and Berlin on 28 March, when it launches its summer schedule and on the same day as its new Heathrow - Vienna service take off. The new routes tie the UK airline more closely into the networks of its parent company Lufthansa and its sister subsidiary Austrian Airlines.
The Berlin service will operate with both economy and business class seats. In business class, passengers will sit in a 2-2 configuration, with the middle seat kept free. On-board service will be 'hot food with a British twist' and a full bar. Business class passengers will have access to the airline's Great British Lounge at Heathrow, which it recently renamed to avoid confusion with the No 1 pay-as-you-go airport lounges in Gatwick and Stansted.
Economy passengers will receive a free 20kg baggage allowance and a complimentary food service including a hot breakfast and full bar service throughout the day. Return fares are from £99 return including taxes.
