17.07.10
Heathrow Airport is clamping down on dangerous and inconsiderate parking in its short-stay car parks. From August 2, a team of uniformed parking officers will be introduced to patrol the car parks and will issue fines to drives not parking as specified in their terms and conditions.
Those using Heathrow Airport car parks must ensure that the park within the lines and only in designated bays. They must also follow the regulations on disabled, motorcycle and high-sided vehicle spaces.
Those issued with fine notices will not have to pay a Parking Enforcement Charge, but from September 1 a fee of £90 will be levied for drivers who pay within 28 days, which will be reduced to £45 if the motorist pays in 14 days.
A spokesman for the airport, said: ‘We are confident that the parking enforcement scheme will deliver a better passenger experience in Heathrow's short stay car parks.’
